Health and Safety Accreditations

The Group has successfully gained accreditations via Constructionline, CHAS, Achilles and Builders Profile through the second half of 2009. Well done to Pam and the team for their conscientious efforts in obtaining these.

Ditchling Phase 4 secured

The estimating and commercial team led by Duncan Bell and Charlotte Witheridge have managed to secure the Ditchling Phase 4 contract despite some tough competition. This was undoubtedly assisted by the successful completion of phases 2 and 3, and further outlines the companies focus on excellent client relationships lead by top quality work both on and off site.

Health and Safety Award for Wayne Ingram

ZX130 Machine Operator Wayne Ingram has been recognised by Aspire Defence for outstanding contribution and will receive a Health and Safety Award for his work on the Aldershot Martial Arts Contract for Mansell. - Well done to Wayne and keep up the good work.

Tim Henderson promoted to Site Manager

Tim has recently been promoted from a Foreman to Site Manager at the commencement of the £800K St Georges College groundworks and concrete frame contract in Weybridge for Leadbitters. In the first month on site the Safety Officer awarded Leadbitter and Blanchard Wells the highest safety rating in the region this year. Well done to both the Leadbitter team of Andy Bowns, Rob Jackson and Sean Cutler plus our own Tim Henderson and his men on site.

New, high spec Volvo FM420 8x2 lorry purchased by Blanchard Wells

A deal has been done with MC Truck and Bus to supply a new Volvo FM420 8x2 plant lorry to the Blanchard Wells Group. The lorry has been specifically designed by MD Mark Wells and Dave Hutchins of MC Bus and Truck to ensure it is capability is maximised. The new lorry is of the highest specification and will be capable of dealing with all the everyday requirements and pressures that will be put upon it. It will be fitted with a specific cheese wedge plant bed on air suspension and will have a Fassi F450 BXP 39t per m crane fitted to it. The power will be supplied by a 420hp Volvo engine with the bespoke 'I' gearshift transmission and the new Euro 5 engine emission level will ensure that it is as environmentally friendly as physically possible.

HM Plant supplies new ZX excavators

HM Plant has been instructed to supply 2 new ZX excavators. Both will be supplied with the latest safety equipment including fully automatic quickhitches which are now compulsory in the Blanchard Wells fleet. Delivery is expected mid September and Construction Director Mark Blanchard was keen to continue the Hitachi relationship as he (along with virtually all the machine operators!) is adamant that they are the smoothest and best machines currently available. - Lets hope Peter O Malley of HM Plant doesn't get too complacent!

Fully automated quickhitches installed

Plant Manager Stuart Conner has looked deep into the automatic quick hitch legislation and decided in conjunction with the Directors that the Blanchard Wells Group will have a policy of fully automatic quickhitches on all machines with immediate effect. This decision is approximately 1 year in advance of when we believe our clients will insist on this. After careful consideration an order was placed with GEITH to change all machines in our fleet.
